Job title: Claims Clerk

Full-time position, 40 hours/week, permanent.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (On-site)

Location: Laval, QC

A claims clerk is an employee responsible for handling complaints and requests related to manufactured products (defective, damaged, non-conforming, etc.) with the goal of serving our customers by proposing a solution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Claims Coordinator with various tasks.
• File claims with manufacturers and follow up on them to obtain credit.
• Become familiar with the process for ordering parts under warranty.
• Process merchandise returns to suppliers (good returns) in SAP.
• Request RMAs and coordinate returns of defective parts in Canada.
• Retrieve claims files upon approval of supplier credits.
• Issue credits to customers and post supplier credits in SAP.
• Monitor various department-specific reports.
• Prepare RMA follow-up reports and contact customers to follow up.
• Manage and communicate claim denials to customers.
• Open project files and file department records.
• Process and track shipping claims in SAP.
• Respond to requests for claim follow-ups.
• Resolve complex claims.
• Monitor various reports specific to the department.
• Participate in the annual inventory count.

Technical Skills, Education, and Experience:

• College degree with training in accounting or a related field
• At least 5 years of proven experience in a claims department
• Knowledge of the product distribution industry
• Microsoft Office Suite; advanced proficiency in Excel; SAP experience a plus
• Bilingual

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to contractors’ inquiries by phone and/or in person to serve them as efficiently and professionally as possible.
• Complete service sheets following incoming calls.
• Track orders for pickup or shipment.

• Verify warranty coverage for replacement parts.
