Mini-Split Air-Conditioners / Heat Pumps (Mitsubishi Electric)

How is the unit installed, how does it work ?

Ductless mini-split air-conditioners or heat pumps include: An interior component or evaporator (source of cool air or heat) and an outdoor component or condensing unit. Both units are connected by piping that only requires an opening of 3 inches in diameter. The indoor unit can be installed either on a wall or on the ceiling. The indoor unit operates in heating mode (if it is a heat pump), air conditioning and dehumidification modes and can be adjusted with a 24 hour programmable remote control.

Where does the condensate go?
A pipe connecting the indoor unit to the outdoor unit, drains the condensate.
For what type of house is this system best suited ?

For homes with electric heating:

1. Cottages / Split Levels
It is possible to install up to three (3) indoor units connected to only one outdoor unit or one ceiling unit (with up to three (3) airflow outlets) connected to an outdoor unit.

2. Bungalows
Wall-mounted unit.

Mitsubishi Electric
MS / MSH 9,000 to 17,000 BTU/hr (air conditioning and heat pump)
MSM 18,000 to 30,000 BTU/hr (air conditioning only)
PL / PLH 18,000 (ceiling cassette unit, air conditioning and heat pump)

What is its cooling capacity ?

Mitsubishi Electric has the most complete range of equipment

  • 9 000 to 30 000 BTU/hr, covering 700 to 2500 sq. ft.
  • 9 300 to 18 500 Btu/hr covering 700 to 1800 sq. ft.
Can a heat pump reduce our heating costs ?

On a split-system you can save up to 25% on your heating bill: however, you have to take into consideration the cost involved with cooling in the summer months.

What is the noise level of this system ?

These systems (outdoor and indoor units) have the lowest noise level in the industry. Mitsubishi Electric air-conditioners and heat pumps meet most municipal standards.

What does SEER mean ?

SEER = Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rati
